Chatty, I haven't had a garden for a few years now, which I miss terribly. I didn't have the energy anymore to tend to a big garden. I usually had allot of canning to do also. I still have my asparagus bed and a few herbs that I grow though. But here as of late, I have been thinking of putting out a small manageable garden because I do miss the fresh vegetables. Going to the farmers' market isn't the same, nor taste as fresh as going straight to the garden.

The kohlrabi are easy to grow. We always liked the white Vienna variety to grow. The pkt. of seeds can be bought at most stores and seed catalogs. You can also buy the little plants at some garden centers. We grow them to the size of a medium tomato and eat them raw. If they get too big, they are tough, dried out, and taste woody.

Cookie, it wasn't until last month, I tried kohl rabi slices, raw. Thankfully the gigantic ones we saw, tasted fine. Much to our surprise. Yes, new things to discover after 50+.

Previously I always had it cooked. Probably because I had too many experiences when it was occasionally tough.

I now have an enclosed patio with a wall all around it about 8 feet high and am having a large wooden box made 5 feet wide, 8 feet wide & 10 feet long that can't be seen from outside the patio. I will fill it with the best soil I can find and plant herbs and vegetables for myself. If someone should want to come and arrest me, SO BE IT!!! I am NOT giving up my fresh vegetables. I figure they can't watch everyone, lol!!!
