we moved recently -- even farther away from the home we shared with our children -- the home we lost our oldest son at ----

the first move -- we only went a few blocks away -- the same type of house -- the same type of neighborhood -- it was never a home -- but it WAS away

but now we've moved to a new home -- and yes, i call it home -- because i "feel" here -- i started my garden here -- planted roberts tree here -- and after working in it the other day -- and watching the caterpillars weave themselves into cocoons -- i needed to say ---

roberts little tree --
like my heart
is growing from a seed

we could have gone either way
shrivel up and die
or grow every day

but with patience & time
rain & tears
that little seed and i
have grown this past year

we're not so fragile
we survived the freeze
the suns warmed us up
we grow now with a little more ease

so day by day
i nurture roberts tree
and i begin to believe we'll make it
that little seed and me

or one of the baby birds
recently born

are you the flowers covered with dew

i'm glad you're at peace now

but i miss you my sweet child
