I'm enjoying Julia Child's autobiographical book on how her love and expertise for French cooking develops, her marriage to her supportive, artsy-govn't bureaucrat hubby. Book covers the time period just after the WW II what France was like.

America owes a great deal to Julia Child for educating the masses on fine cooking and igniting interest in French cooking and culture. Her love for all of this is clearly evidence in this

The book also causes me to wonder if sometimes, only the very few fortunate people in this world, discover the right culture that fits their personality, interests, etc. They become completely transformed in a good way. Julia Child came from California and found her "fit" in Paris.

Another example is a CAnadian Caucasian guy who went to China to study over 10 years ago. He stumbled in comedy in China..and became a hit on tv. He found his cultural niche happily.

Personally I think I do believe I was born and raised in the right culture, which is Canada, given my personality and natural tendencies. But it would be a multicultural society with a frontier mentality.

Read her book awhile back and found it as fascinating as the lady herself was. To me she was a PIONEER in good food for people in recipe form. I saw her once on Emeril's TV show and she had a rapier wit as well, very funny lady.

Sounds pretty good; I'll go look for her book!

I used to love watching her cook. Great passion for French food, and an adorable sense of humor.

I read Julia and Julia this summer. It is about a woman named Julie who cooks all of Julia's recipes from book 1, over the course of a year. It also shares some Julia moments.

Anno I was going to purchase that book but wasn't sure about it. How did you like it? It sounded unique and possibly a good read.
