What did I do to make mommy so mad?

Teddy, what does this spell, "G-I-N?"

I don't know what I did that was so bad

I'm so glad I have you for a friend.

Teddy, I have a tummy ache.

Maybe I should get some medicine

What do you think I should take?

When Mommy's sick,she uses "GIN."


Tonight Mommy took me to the park.

Daddy asked why my arm was black and blue.

Why did we go when it was so dark?

Mommy told Daddy I tripped over my untied shoe.

It was so dark and Daddy wasn't home yet.

Mommy said it's a secret I can't tell.

He must be working late with his mistess, I bet.



Ya know, children should be seen and not heard.

Shhh, Teddy, be quiet and I will (ex) plain

We can't make any noise, can't say a word.

Why did mommy tell me to out in the rain?

Mommy sat all day with watching soaps with her gin.

Mommy and Daddy are having a huge fight.

Why wouldn't she open the door and let us in?

Daddy calls me his Darling Little Princess.

I was dripping wet, hungry and cold.

I am scared too, but I'll hold you tight.

But, Teddy, we did as we were told.

How can I be anything when Mom says I'm a pest?


Today I am a really big girl of five.

I heard Mommy say,"I drive her to drink."

That's funny cause I don't know how drive.

Should I wear the blue dress or the pink?


Some lady came to took me away.

The lady wouldn't let you come.

I know you will be sad and miss me.

I'm a big girl but can I suck my thumb?

Those dirt marks were my tears.

Mommy drinks so now I can't stay.

Who's going to chase away my fears?

Don't cry. I will be back, you'll see.

The previous poem is supposedly the feelings of a child lost in a parent's alcoholic haze. Let me know what you think?

Interesting.....Sounds like it would be the thoughts of a child....

I like the way she is using the teddybear to convey her emotions.

Well done Stormy.....sometimes a child's only friend is the one that ALWAYS listens no matter what - like a well worn teddy bear. Sad little tale though.

Good luck with the contest Storm....I only noticed a few extra or missing words in some of the lines....like:

"Why did Mommy tell me to out in the rain?" (missing the word GO??)

"Mommy sat all day with watching soaps with her gin" (remove word "with" after day?)

"That's funny cause I don't know how drive" (missing word "to" before the word "drive"?)

"Some lady came to took me away" (did you mean to say "took" or should it be "take"?)

Anyway, like I said - GOOD LUCK!!!!

My advice humble as it is, try to tighen the words usage up a little bit, it reads a little irregular and not smoothly. If you read it to yourself out loud you will notice where the poem doesn't seem to flow.

The thoughts of a child are so precious, and they seem to come from her tender little heart.
