Just wondering if the pet lovers on this forum are involved in the feral cat TNR programs in your area? I have been for the past 6 years and found it really worked. My only complaint is the politics that come with these projects because of the need to fight for funding.

Welcome Penny! I'm so glad you've joined us. You'll find many animal lovers here. Many. Myself included. I would love to find a way to snore louder than my boxer Trixie does though.

Could you please tell me (and maybe others?) what TNR is? I'm not familiar with that acronym. Or maybe once your spell it out I'll hit my forehead and say, "why sure!"

Yes, JJ, you are going to clunk yourself in the head...TNR = Trap, Neuter, Release.

Didn't know you had a boxer named Trixie. My black cat's name is Trixie too!

Love the concept TNR. I am a cat lover. A year ago my beloved cat died.I decided to wait a while...then a stray turned up.(After I wrote to the Universe)This little cat eats here still not come in...but so far no kitties. If I can catch her then the vet fist call.Until then she is eating well purrs but alert to us touching her.I love her for her "catness" its sad she wont be petted but methinks she is feral and untouched so I should be glad at what she allows.
Well done you...such a worthwhile project.

Getting used to your absence
Coping with the space
Or so I believed
I longed last night
To share time
Like we did for so long

I remembered your smooth fur
The feel of your frame
The spaces between your toes
A kiss from your cold nose

And I felt loss…. deep sadness

So tell me please
Did you send in some feline way?
The little stray cat
Who peeped round the corner
Of your garden

Unlike you
Not nourished nor bold
But needy
Is there a hand at work?
Which knows our link?
The connection we have still

OK I think I'm back again. Had a registration problem and had to have the database gurus wipe me out and let me register again. I'm the person who posted this to begin with. I could find the posts until I got registered and logged in with the new info. Some days technology is not as much fun as it could be.

Welcome to the forums and BWS. Have you had an opportunity to introduce yourself somewhere on the forums? We would love to hear about your interests, what you love, who you are, and more.

I, also, have never heard of TNR for any animal. Interesting concept and I would love to hear what others are thinking about this matter.

Hi. No I don't think I've introduced myself anywhere. Just getting things up and working today after moving from AZ to TX before the holidays. My bio is at About Penny. I also have a website for my writing, but this is the bio that hits on the pet topics. I've done rescue work for twenty plus years and our family consists of four special needs animals that were all rescued. Besides the things I've learned through the years, I'm also a certified Holistic Health Practitioner and Reiki Master Teacher. My hobby is growing antique roses.

TNR is a way to humanely control the feral cat population. Austin Texas is beginning a program. Phoenix Arizona has a very well established program through azcat.org. It's a lot to explain on one post so I'll include one of the best resource sites I know Alleycat.org. However, I've done it myself for years and can surely answer questions. I'm also open to contact from people who have groups starting in their area and have questions about results, techniques, etc.
