Hey, I've a 7-year old dappled buckskin quarter horse cross. Not certain what the cross is. Maverick is 15.1 hands and has lovely black and chocolate points. Weighs about 1150 pounds. Barefoot, not shod. The most beautiful ears ever and soft brown, yet inquisitive and intelligent eyes. His left rear coronet is white with ermine spots.

He's not registered with neither the AQHA (american quarter horse association) nor the ABRA (american buckskin registration association). I only have the bill of sale and no idea whom the dam/sire are (nor does the gentleman I bought from who trained him from a cold)!

To register at his present age with the AQHA it would cost $1,000+! No way!

Yet, the ABRA is only $45 (http://www.americanbuckskin.org/Registration.html).

I'm allowed 3 choices in which to choose a registered name with the ABRA. The 3 name choices shall not exceed 20 letters and spaces total.

Maverick being 8 of those, I'm left with 12 including spaces.

All of you gals are such wonderful writers, intrinsic in nature, artistic, and caring that I trust to ask your assistance with the 3 name choices. Would ya'll mind?

I understand there is a greater chance of getting your 1st choice with unusual names or spellings.

My nickname is Pumpkin, which in spanish translates to Calabaza, which is 8 characters.

Calabaza's Maverick (19 characters total)

Maverick Calabaza (17 characters total)

Maverick has no other distinguishable marks, except a few minor scars.

I would like to combine his name and something unique to me.

If ya'll are game, tell me more what you need to know!

I can post pictures, if necessary!

Gosh, thanks!

Mustang, this is so interesting. Never heard of ABRA before, read the site…gosh do they have lots of rules.

I really like Maverick Calabaza

Hmmm something unique to you?

Maverick Boomer ( heh heh…)

or Boom-Boom Maverick ( 18 characters)

Maverick Pumpiamkin (19 characters)

Marvelous Maverick ( 18 characters)

Maverick Crookneck (18 characters) Crookneck is a British term for various large fruited winter squashes.

Maverick Waniky ( Sioux Indian, for saviour)

I found this site with beautiful Indian names: http://www.lowchensaustralia.com/names/nativeam2.htm#16

This was fun. I sure would love to see a picture of your Maverick.

I'm confused, if this horse is a gelding (?) and you don't know his parentage, what is the point of registering him?

I am enjoying the names and am impatiently waiting for his picture; just wondering why you want to register him.
