I wonder how others spent this summer.
In UK we have had a warm spell so weather wise we have had beautiful sunny days.
School here started this week and local children are back to study..being retired I can continue to enjoy warm days.

So over to you all...did you vacation or visit interesting places...or did the summer bring relaxing home days?

I look forward to all you care to share...

Hi Mountain Ash,

Good to hear from you, and I am delighted you have been able to enjoy some nice warm days. I've only been to the UK -- specifically to England -- once and that was something like 44 years ago. But that summer I remember arriving as Wimbledon was on, and the weather was in the 80's-Farenheit.

We thought it was lovely weather, and were surprised to have our friends tell us this was not only unseasonably warm for June -- but warm for the whole summer season.

I remember our friends hosted a party for us, and served home made lasagna -- and shandys. The hostess's kitchen was beastly hot with no air conditioning and cooking that wonderful lasagna!

We ate outdoors, and the shandies -- which were a new drink for us Yanks -- were deliciously refreshing.

Now there's a US Beer company that's marketing their "Summer Shandy" and every time I see the commercial, I think of my wonderful visit to London during the summer of '69. And my introduction to that refreshing mix of lemonade and beer.

As for what I've done this summer: So far, all I've done is work. I am hoping for a bit of a vacation later this year.

A Scot won Wimbleton mens tournament this year...we were all happy for Andy Murray.
Yes shandy...here its a ladies drink...I don't drink alcohol but know that many ladies have shandy and gardeners too seem to choose this in summer.

Later holidays are good.set us up for the winter.

Haven't done anything fun here - it's too darn hot! I'm waiting for cooler weather to do anything outdoors - another 6 weeks or so ought to do it! And my Mom used to like her shandy!

That is what is good about this forum...how we all live in different areas .
Must say I like Spring as a vacation time..around Easter when the days get longer here.
We were at the shore for a week when the art festival was running a week ago. This has to be my favourite experience.saw so much talent.all taking place in a beautiful fishing village.I had withdrawn symptoms for a day or two on my return!!

At present Edinburgh Festival is running as is the Edinburgh Book Festival.I plan a trip next Saturday to a venue where awards will be presented...

I still work but did take some vacation.

Weird summer because of after flood recovery effects on our city...and my workplace. Infrastrucure still damaged, some repaired across the city. It creates a different atmosphere. Swapping flood stories. Just what people will do to help others and few situations of people shafted because they need their homes fixed fast...

Spent great time in Vancouver. Took 2 day side trip from Washington state, passing through one of the San Juan Islands to Vancouver Island.

Did some paintings, blog posts (I have several scheduled for release), some local sites (which will be in my blog..)

This summer has happened in two parts for me. The part before moving and the part after moving. And "move" is a 4 letter work don't you know!
I was living with my sister after leaving my lazy husband. But that household has a negative atmosphere that was hard to work around. My internet company requires personal development daily and they are always saying to get away from negative people. So when I heard of the race horse ranch that was looking for a caretaker-I jumped. My only requirement was that it have internet connection.
That connection took a couple of weeks to iron out, but now everything is wonderful. I love having my own space (even if it is an old mobile home) so I can get up when I want (6AM) and do what I want. And I don't have to listen to my sister's dumb TV shows. Life is looking up!

Summer passes too quickly in this neck of the woods, IMHO. I love this time of year; it's my favorite. If I knew how to slow the months from May to September from zooming pass, I'd do it. LOL...

And for us, Summer does not pass quickly enough! Outdoor retail in the hottest time of year in the Southwest is a bear. Yes we do our market outdoors twice/weekly. Thankfully we start in early mornings. But the older we get the harder it is.

Best time of year is October/November/December

If you are traveling to NM, those are the times to come. And do come by the Las Cruces Farmer's Market! (www.lascrucesfarmersmarket.org)

Wow! That's some market you have there. Love the Lincoln pictures. If and when we come that way, I'll surely let you know. And we can meet up after all these years.
