Hi Chatty,

I hadn't ever given much thought to recycling paper towels, and had never put used toweling in my recycle bin. But given your question and my intrepid desire to provide answers to questions posed here, I have looked up an answer for you on that great site, eHow: Can Paper Towel Be Recycled?

So there you go!

Anne

My first job was in a paper mill laboratory and paper is in indeed recycled.Depending on what kind of product you wish to manufacture.
Paper is liquid during part of the process.and runs like a river over webbed wire.
Esparto grass mainly...trees etc for quality paper in war time when ships could not bring imports potatoes shaws were used to make rather poor quality paper...

but as in life you cant make a silk purse from a sows eat..you only get out what is put in...
I was well trained and think the paper scientists were wonderful..not quite alchamists but nearly!!

WB has a compost pile way out back and uses the mulch for the
flower beds, around the tree trunk bottoms, etc. This is an
interesting concept about the paper towels. Thanks, Anne!
