Farewell D ick Clark, Quintessential Teenager - 04/18/12 08:30 PM

I just read that D ick Clark died. I'm sad that he's gone, and happy I watched his final Rockin' New Year's Eve last December 31st.

Anyone who'd seen him in recent years knew he had struggled hard to be able to speak again after suffering a stroke.

Apparently it was a heart attack that finally brought down the great "American Bandstand" leader, according to this article in the Washington Post.

Farewell, D ick Clark! a part of my early teenage years dies with you. May you find a place in Heaven to "keep on rockin'"

Wow. Another iconic legend gone! First thing I thought of was the Righteous Brothers' song "Rock and Roll Heaven", especially the words of the chorus:

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band

And D ick Clark is up there, too, to greet old friends.

Until the last few years, he looked forever young. I had an aunt that said to me, prior to her death, "Well we've had a good life." That was a long, long time ago, but I never forgot her words. Compared to some people, she did--have a good life. But compared to others, not so much. Guess it's good to dwell on the good!!!
