I did it!!

I did it!! - 11/04/09 11:47 AM

I started my BiPolar memoir! And I have an agent interested in iy as soon as it's finished. So, I better get busy and finished it as quickly as possible.

On another note, I've been Full blown manic since last Tuesday. More than 10 days ago, I went to visit my mom, sisters, and brother in NV for 5 days. Then after that, I went to a writers conference for 5 days. Then after I came home I went manic and have been ever since.

I see my psych. today. I hope he has good news and can make some positive changes w/my meds. He's already made some changes. I e-mailed him immediately when I realized I was manic.

Love the modern age. I don't need to go in for an appt. I can reach him when ever I need to.. just send him an e-mail. :-)

But, back to the book.

I'm thrilled to be writing it, but it is digging into a past that I'm not sure I've completely come to grips with yet. We'll soon find out.

It's only a slice of what I call my Bipolar years. It's starting with right before I went into the hospital in 1998 and the year and 1/2 afterward to my recovery.

That's it.

Vicky knows that I am her #1 fan so I'll be in line for sure for this new book. Vicky, one thing that Sue Silverman said about memoirs is that they are a slice of life, not an entire lifetime, so it seems to me you are on an excellent path with the makings of a great memoir.

You know we're all behind you. Good luck with the doc and we're squeezing you tight with love!

Thanks, JJ....My #1 fan wouldn't let me down... :-) I appreciate all the support. I'm just writing from my heart... I didn't know I was doing it "right" or "wrong"... So am glad to know I picked the "right way"!!

Re: I did it!! - 11/04/09 04:55 PM

Sue also pointed out there is no right or wrong way...there is YOUR way. So see? Your gut tells the story and that can only be right.

I can't wait Vicki, you put so much into your writing. But then, you don't need another plug! ha!

I sure have Vicki, its like a dot on the map with plenty of heat and creepy crawly things...

Re: I did it!! - 11/06/09 11:09 AM

It even made it to the map as a dot? Wow!!

It has about 800 people.. and I think my mom knows them all personally. You can walk the entire (ENTIRE) length of the town in 15 minutes... and that's walking at a regular pace.

There's one blinking red light. It sits at a 4 way stop sign corner

My mom is the museum manager. My baby sister works at the hardware store. My other two sisters work at the Stagecoach, the ONLY good place to stay in town where they have a restaurant, hotel and casino.

My brother is a contractor helping anyone and everyone who needs work done on their house. His wife tends bar.

I also have an aunt and uncle that live there, as well as a 3 nieces and a nephew. Oh, and a drunk cousin.

Would I move there to be closer to my family? HECK NO!!! Why do you think I live in Florida? And there is 2000 miles between us?

I love my family desperately, but I can only take them in small doses and on my terms.

Re: I did it!! - 11/10/09 06:17 PM

Hey, Vickie: Congratulations! My poetry book (Sanctuary of the Soul) is in the process of publication.

My memoir: Ghost Child to Triumph (from a child with no voice, to someone who speaks up against injustice) will be published next year, either self.....or if an agent I have is interested; only wrote it 15 years ago, LOL, LOL

When will your book be available?

Hugs, Alice

Alice, love the name of your memoir. Very telling!

Re: I did it!! - 11/13/09 02:01 PM

Thanks everyone. Hopefully, the book will only take a year to write. I've a goal to get it to a particular agent by then.

Dotsie, no, I wasn't raised there. I was raised in Michigan. My mom, sisters, and brother moved to NV a while ago.

I'll definitely let everyone here know when it's available !
