Public Service TV: The Human Spark - 01/12/10 06:29 PM

This might "spark" some interest starting tonight: lol

9pm ET PBS The Human Spark: Becoming Us Alan Alda explores what differentiates humans from other species in this three-part series, which begins in France's Dordogne region, where humans made spectacular cave paintings and carvings some 30,000 years ago. He compares those humans to Neanderthals, who had lived for hundreds of thousands of years yet had little art and no evolving technology to show for it. Alda ponders when and where the human spark first ignited---whether in the Dordogne caves or even earlier, on a different continent.

I've been watching a snippet of the shows - hope they have another run of them soon so that I can catch them in their entirety.

I have caught the recent ETV Special on Hummingbirds and other wildlife shows.

This was a total interesting subject and rhe scenery was also quite interesting. I always liked Alan Alda and never realized he was such a scholar.
