They grow in our region and on the northwest coast.

Not the cheapest, but interesting things. Saskatoon berries

Fascinating post, Orchid. I would love to try these versatile berries. Guess I'll have to make plans for a Canadian visit, as I've never seen them here in the US.

They look a little like the black currants I remember picking and eating in the UK.

I really wonder if they have a different name in other parts of North America.

They are bigger than a currant. Here we get red, blue and golden fresh currants...from British Columbia since it's too dry to grow them here.

orchid,
I never heard of Saskatoon berries before this. They look like large blue berries, don't they. I wonder how they taste. I've
never acquired a taste for blue berries, so not sure if I'd
like Saskatoon berries. Since they don't grow in your part of British Columbia, what made you think about them?

I like saskatoons...not as juicy as blueberries.

I love blueberries!

If I ever have the opportunity, I'll certainly give those Saskatoons a try! Thanks for the idea!

Blueberries have always been my favorite berries. I'd like to try the Saskatoon berries too one day.
