Airbag recalls... - 05/21/15 05:23 PM

Just bought a new 2015 car. It has 7 airbags. I'm thinking that's cool. I'll be protected if an issue should arise. Now they're saying several major car manufacturers' have Takata
airbags that explode for NO reason. Go to safercar.gov and put in the VIN number, which is a combination of 17 numbers and letters found in the lowest part of the driver's side windshield. But then they say the gov't hasn't got all the info on that site, yet. Wait a week. And try again. So I'm driving around feeling as if I'm playing Russian roulette. sick:

Hi Jabber,

There's so much unknown in the world, and this is just one tiny piece.

I haven't sought out my VIN number yet, so I haven't yet checked out safercar.gov. But I did hear this morning on the news that it is illegal to disconnect your airbags, AND that the percentage chance that your airbags will actually deploy is pretty darn small.

So if you're still worried, AND the website indicates your car is affected, they say the only thing to do is stop driving it. Contact your dealer, to see if they can provide you with a safe loaner car until yours can be repaired.
