Paratrooper Pets...? - 05/07/11 04:28 PM

I was amazed and astounded to learn that Navy Seals train
dogs to jump out of airplanes. It's just incredible to me. My son was in the 82nd Airborne. And I'm still in awe of that. But I totally marvel that they have dogs parachuting. WOW!!!

Not sure how the dogs pull the string that opens the parachute. Perhaps they jump with a human who does that for them?

These dogs train with the Navy Seals. The bond they have with their masters is an awesome thing to see. Dogs have such devotion; some of us humans could learn a lesson here!

Anne,
I didn't see the actual training methods; these are really smart dogs, so perhaps they can pull the cord themselves? Don't know.
But I couldn't believe the amount of bravery that sort of thing would demonstrate. By gosh, by golly!!!

Chatty's video about the cat playing with the dolphins is the cutest thing! How sweet that is to think those two species
would love each other!

After all the news coverage of O'Sama being killed they showed the Seal dogs on TV, and one in particular that was with the Seals during their mission. They then showed some of the dogs being trained, and said all are trained in Europe and born there as well.

The dogs jumping from the planes were teathered to their handler and he pulled the rip cord but it was amazing that the dog seemed eager to jump. Gorgeous German Shepards...

Jabber, I was shocked to see the love displayed by both the cat and dolphins for one another, and this was the first time they had met. I love the video!

Animals are so amazing it's mind boggling. You'd think the dogs
wouldn't want to jump out of an airplane, no matter how it was done; I'd have to be pushed. And those dolphins coming to
the surface to see that cat was truly awesome. How fascinating
that is!!!
