BLOGGERS... - 06/05/10 12:20 AM

I was asked recently to alert my friends when I had blogged. I am blogging every Friday now so everyone knows. My blog today is on WORDS>! Sure would love some more followers, all that means is you might read me and even throw in a comment once in awhile. I keep my blog pretty short.

Chatty, I loved this one. Did you write these? They were hilarious and such a great play on words. Especially the TOMORROW one.

Good job, gal.

I did a couple but got the rest over time and saved them for a special place to repeat them. I love a play on words.

How kind of you to say that. I love that us boomers are blogging more, but I especially like reading the ones that uplift and serve us. Yours...does.

Keep it up!

Now, bout those Oreo's....

JJ, have you tasted the new Oreo cakes? I prefer the old hard Oreo and with icy cold milk of course.

Yep, sure are. I had no idea Dawn could have different uses. I'm going to try it on a clogged bathtub and see what happens.

Re: BLOGGERS... - 10/20/10 03:35 AM

A writer's site I frequent has a thread for people to let others know when they post something new on their blogs, ie: I Blogged Today. Another has a thread just to have a running list of people who blog and a brief description of their blog; they put it there themselves, as a comment. Is there something like that here? If not, seems like a great idea. Possibility? ~Karen

I blog every Friday myself and if it is something I feel would benefit other women especially I announce it here under ANNOUNCEMENTS and if they want to read it they can... Works for me.

Re: BLOGGERS... - 11/29/10 03:05 AM

I am blogging about every three days. I'm focusing on writing about...writing. And I just started, Photo Friday, where I will post some sort of photo to go along with my blog. For example,I posted a photo my hubby took of me signing the book contract with my 89-year old Dad. The book is based on his experiences during the war, so I wanted to share the experience with him.

I've found in the past that it's hard to stay motivated to post regularly. But I'm working at it. And now that I have something to write about, it's definitely much easier.

Re: BLOGGERS... - 12/23/10 07:19 PM

I enjoyed reading all your comments here. I am 57 and started blogging 3 years ago. I also just had my first book published, "Naked in Eden: My Adventure and Awakening in the Australian Rainforest". It's about my life in the Daintree rainforest of Queensland, Australia when I was younger. I am American, now living in New Mexico, but I once spent many years living in Australia.

For one who loves being outdoors, I have found it an interesting experience being online. One of the truly good things it's done is make me see how many kind, compassionate and supportive people there are in the world, just amazing souls. Contrary to what the media might like us to believe, the world is full of good people. I seem to meet kind people on every corner, every day. Sure, I've run across a couple that didn't know how to be kind, but they were by far the minority.

The harder part of being online and blogging is that being a writer, nature photographer, and budding filmmaker, all my work requires computers (editing book, photos, film), as well as using the computer to sell/promote my work. I've notice that my eyes suffer from time on the 'puter. I try to limit it as best I can, but I'd be lying if I didn't say it's challenging. Even my music is recorded with computers.

Maybe that's why I have a garden and hike barefoot up mountains. It keeps me connected to the soul of the Earth.

I'd be curious if anyone else struggles with this issue, and how you deal with it. Many people online have told me they are addicted to being online, facebook, twitter, etc. I don't have that problem and can easily walk away.

Maybe it's about taking more short breaks throughout the day, and doing more grounded things like walking outside (which I do walk almost everyday), or doing dishes by hand, or baking, or playing my piano, etc, something more tactile and sensory.

I wish you all a warm, peaceful and laughter-filled holiday season.

I know what you mean --I cycle often during non-snowy times which is a good thing away from computer. My job, like many people, now requires use of computer at least 75% of time for now. then when it's lousy weather, I hunker over the computer at home.

I am conscious about good ambient lighting whenever I work on computer --ie. light that doesn't glare around the screen. And a room that has lots of lighting. I never use computer in a darkened nor near-darkened room, that is a recipe for degrading your eyesight.

Yes, to take breaks away from computer by looking at objects farther away, etc.

I do not twitter or use any of the hand-held iphones, etc.
At this time, therefore I have no interest in buying an iPad to read e-books either.

As for blogging, you can see my links below for stuff below. I'll be writing for a 4th blog later.

Re: BLOGGERS... - 01/07/11 03:15 AM

I have found having exceptional lighting helps eye strain from being on the computer all day long. I don't get headaches but still feel the strain some evenings. It's the price we nerds, lol, have to pay I suppose. I am ordering larger print books when I can however.
