Second Place: $250
Third Place: $100
Fourth Through Tenth Place: $25
Eleventh Through Twenty-Fifth Place: $50 gift certificate to Writer's Digest Books

Plus, the names and poem titles of all First- through Tenth-Place winners will be printed in an upcoming issue of Writer's Digest, and all winners will receive a copy of the 2008 Poet's Market. Click here for guidelines and to enter online!

Is it normal that they ask for a submission fee?

Hannelore, it depends on the contest. At least half of them do. I'm on a budget and stick to free contests only.

I would think the sites that don't ask for a fee are more credible. I don't want to have to pay for being allowed to submit a written piece of my own work. I think it's just a matter of principle. Still, I think it's wonderful that Dotsie calls our attention to such contests. I've read every one suggestion. Thanks so much!!!
