Boom in Boomers Starting a Business

Boom in Boomers Starting a Business - 07/02/14 08:45 PM

Ages ago, before I bought the NABBW websites, I started a website called Boomerpreneur, because I was one, and I'd come to understand that the largest demographic of people starting businesses these days is us boomers.

I did a lot of coaching back then, helping my fellow Boomers determine if starting up a business was right for them, and if so, what type of business to start.

The points made in this article I just read on starting an online business are very valid, so I wanted to share them here.

We have several Boomer entrepreneurs among our members, including Di's New Mexico Soapand Meredith Bead. Anyone else in this group? Or want to be?

PS If you go look at my old Boomerpreneur site, don't sign up for the BoomerWire newsletter, I don't put it out anymore. And that photo of me is soooo old. Bleh! But I am thinking of revitalizing this site and developing a program to help Boomerpreneur wannabes get started. Any thoughts on what we should include?

I once thought starting a business might be a good idea. But circumstances changed and I have no energy to even think about it at this stage.

I can understand that, Yonuh. Makes total sense. You are doing plenty, especially with adding in your writing and blogs. Monetizing the blogs could be a benefit -- as in adding advertisers, but unless you sign up for affiliate programs/products that would harmonize with your blog content, its a lot of work to search out and sell national or regional companies to advertise on your blog.

I speak from experience, as we don't have much in the line of advertisers to the NABBW site as, including this one. Though a lot of bloggers with popular blogs DO make quite an income from advertisers...

I don't know how they do it. None of my blogs has a big enough following to make it worth my while to do the research to find harmonizing affiliate programs. And I don't have a clue about marketing.
