Is anyone here familar with the term, "Pocket Neighborhood?"

Cottage Living, April---had a great article about this architect named Ross Chapin who designs close-knit homes that create a sense of commitment. The homes were adorable and the people who live in these communities seem to just love one another.

The homes are anywhere from 650 sq feet to 1600 sq feet. If you go here http://www.rosschapin.com/Projects/PocketNeighborhoods/ThirdStreetCottages/ThirdStreet.html you can then select photo gallery and see what I'm talking about. I want to live there! Would someone loan me a bazillion dollars?

After visiting with all of the boomer babes this weekend, this community housing thing is looking better and better. How cool would it be to have a BOOMER POCKET COMMUNITY?

JJ, it would have to have a mini-casino for you and me!

Hey count me in you two...When feeling up to par, I am a real firecracker. I would love for us all to be able to see one another everyday...what a hoot!

And also to have the convenience of neighbors who would watch your home and pets while you were away. What a great feeling that would be. Think of all of the community fun you could have in a village like that! Picnics, get-togethers, Pampered Chef parties, LOL! Everything! And I just bet people in these communities would take care of each other, if needed. I love the concept here.

Interesting concept but not sure I'd like it much. The houses are quite small mostly. Maybe I'm just used to big homes. But it would be a hoot to have people in the community that knew you and cared how you were. I wonder if the concept will catch on.

Hey JJ if you do it I will too. I live in a resort that is kind of like that now. All kinds of get togethes, events, and just hanging out. This concept you mention sounds even better to me...Want to share a house? I'll do the cooking.

I want their gardens. It reminds me of a little neighborhood we saw in Martha's Vineyard. I think it was a camp area for a specific denomination. Does anyone know what I'm talking about. It was like stepping back in time. I loved it! We spent a lot of time walking the neighborhood and chatting with people.
