New words: tulips, earth, squirrel, path

Grateful I am for a walk in the park,
WB 'n me and a lab that barks.
Pup sees a squirrel and chases it for fun,
Then she spots a woodchuck,
And down the path they both run.

Trees are budding,
Plantlife's startin' to sprout,
Everywhere there's new birth,
Grasses are springing out.

Tulips wave howdie 'n pretty the land,
The Daffodils' bright yellow,
Give tulips a hand.
Spring's here, spring's here,
Earth is renewed, no doubt,
That's what spring flowers,
Always seem to shout.

Neighborhood friends,
You'll see in their yards,
Visiting o'er property fences,
'stead of washin' their cars.

Whatever the reason,
It's an outdoors season,
To see neighbors gossip 'n chat,
In the yard, on the lawn,
Outside 'tis where it's at.

New words, old words

Poets, you know it. If the new words don't seem right, use whatever you will, use whatever you might!

tulips, earth, squirrel, path

Today in our front yard
We were building a path
Winding through gardens
Of tulips and daffs.
While digging around
In the earth and the grass,
We found all the peanuts
The squirrels had amassed.
We dug them all up,
Though the worms gave a tug
Trying to keep them,
I often cried “ugh!”
Slowly but surely
We built us a wall
A new home for violets,
Roses and all.

new words: worms, squirm, can't, help

(Jabber, I just noticed I used the old words!)

Eagle, I liked it. Neat poem.

Words: Worms, squirm, can't, help

Here's a confession,
I bet many will agree,
Can't tolerate one worm,
Say nothin' of two or three.
Just lookin' at worms,
Down there on the ground,
Makes me uncomfortable,
And I start to squirm around.

Help; am I a sissy,
Or do others concur,
Worms are for the birds,
So let's leave 'em,
where they were.

New words: bevy, packet, slacker, slant

Tulips in the morning
Tulips in the park
But the best place for “two lips” is in the dark!

I took that verse above, from my old autograph book.
It has a cushioned cover, and a pinky look.
Cute squirrels, on the cover, run down a flowered path,
If you wiggled the book, they move! That always made me laugh.

I’d lie between two oak trees, on our striped hammock,
And with sweet expectations, my precious book I’d unlock.
Swinging high and low, branches bend over the warm earth,
Yes, those poems I still read with a young girlish mirth.

New words
Highway, radio, wind, smile

Highway, radio, wind, smile

Picture in your mind,
for me, if you will,
A red, convertible,
rollin' down a highway hill.

A young, pretty blonde,
has a smile on her face,
The wind 'tis a blowin'
her silky locks, out of place.

The radio is playin',
You think back to the day,
Worries were few 'n
Happiness easily displayed,
And unseen troubles,
Seemed far, far away.

New Words: bluebirds, robins, willows, sway

As I look out my window,
What do I see?
Bluebirds 'n robins,
Baby birds and willow trees.

But when wind gusts howl,
And tree branches break,
The lawn fills with debris,
Then WB has to get a rake,

Willows are too messy,
Wild Bill says every night.
But to me there's nothing
More lovely,
Than a willow tree in sight.

How about a poem related to roller coaster emotions:
sick whistle sleep mad

Great suggestion jabber

Roller coaster emotions? Yes that’s what my life is about.
No sooner I’m up, I find myself in a rout.

The peak of happiness is usually just a moment in time,
Going down and then up is the longest climb.

When I feel happy, and everything seems just right,
I’m afraid it won’t last, I’m afraid to lose sight.

But climbing up to find that peak again,
Means nothing to lose and everything to gain

So up and down, with tears and laughter,
That’s the way life is, now and ever after.

I like this idea, shall we continue?

I'll try again some other day,
When the spirit moves,
And I have time to play.
