Hi Everyone, I'm new here.

I've been struggling lately, feeling lonely tho I have a great family and grandkids. I feel I need others to talk to that I can share with. I had a few internet friends, had them for about 7 years from another forum. They all went to facebook, now they dont respond to my emails. Are emails a thing of the past? It hurts and I feel abandoned. I know facebook is popular but it just wasnt for me. Nothing against it at all, just not for me. Anyway I'd love to chat and share. You seem like such a strong group of women. I thought I'd join in. Hope to get to know you.

Blessings

Thank you Dotsie for the welcome. I remember well when my children went off to college. It is a lonely time and I think of those mom's at this time of year. I'm 55 so my kids are grown but I remember those days and how empty the house seemed.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

WELCOME Nora Rose and boy have you come to the right place. Hey sure Facebook and Twitter are fun but this is the only place I know where you can pour out your heart and people really care and do everything they can to help or just be here for you. I will never leave here because these women have become as close to me, even closer, than my own sisters in real life. Its fun here and a warm place to open your heart and mind. You will be so glad you stopped by...

I remember missing my kids terribly but adding to that I missed their friends who hung around here alot. It just added to the empty hole in the house.

I would give anything to have my sons and their familys living with me or vice versa. I love all the inter-action of a family. It is lonely here in my empty home, quiet, and boring as hell.

greene, I second that - missing their friends too. My daughter's school was only a block away. The kids popped in and out before school, at lunch, and sometimes after school.

Then my youngest son always had friends in and out.

Both of them went off to college at the same time. They were always in the same grade.

Our house went from Grand Central to nothing but peace and quiet. Fortunately, I'd launched BWS while they were in high school so I had everyone ehre to get me through it.

Those peers of our children...such a gift.
I also had young people from the Scouting/Guide movement due to my affiliation visit often. These people watched out for my children at High school when they travelled further...in turn my two offspring looked out for the wee ones...Just like the the olders did for me.

Welcome Nora Rose. My middle birth name is Rose, too. Of course,
I was 48 years old before I knew that. My son lives down South and I live relatively close to Lake Erie. I've three grand-
daughters in S.C. and one in Italy. I keep so busy I don't have
time to get too lonely. But some days are better than others,
for a couple of folks close to me, have gone to be with The Lord
recently. This is an awesome site and know you'll make friends
here. Enjoy! Prayers and blessings,

And Nora Rose, they are some of the funniest mails I've ever seen.

Chatty, yesterday Hubby and I went to a fancy schmancy musical. Love nights like that, cause I can get all dressed up. Anyhow, while waiting for the show to start, I told Hubby that dirty froggy joke. We cracked up and could hardly stop when the curtain rose. Ha ha ha aha ah ahahahahahaha

Hi Nora,
I'm late to say hello, but have been wondering in a brainfog for awhile. Just peeking out to say welcome. I'm on facebook, and enjoy the games and friendships I've made there, but nothing can possibly come close to the beauty and sisterhood of this place. I hope you find sanctuary here.

Chatty, your emails are the highlight of our lives. Hubby loves them too. I think the funniest one for me recently was the door frame measurement...still makes me chuckle just to think about it.

The good thing about BWMS here, is finding out at a personal level, a variety of women's perspectives here. But I wouldn't say this group is as diverse as it could be (the potential is great, it just hasn't been realized more broadly compared to other groups that I've participated in), but at least for myself, is to hear from women that I wouldn't, socialize heavily with in real life. I suspect some women have left...simply because they knew this group was not the right "fit" for them.

I would like to be honest here to say that, a gut feeling tells me some of my personal values and significant life experiences are fundamentally different from some members here, that a face-to-face friendship might only be distant, instead of yielding something much closer.

Orchid, you might be surprised when meeting most of us. When some of us finally met who had been posting for awhile it was like we'd been next door neighbors forever. I was amazed at how comfortable we all were together...

That's true...it was like meeting someone you knew already, just in a different setting. There was none of that awkwardness of first-time friends and no lack of conversation.

Them...not me. They talked and talked and talked...I, being the quiet one, just listened. Uh huh. Sure nuff.

So true! I have met countless online friends repeatedly; each meeting is like the first--you are meeting the person you already grew to know and like. We always end up feeling like "sisters" and cannot wait to meet again or talk to each other on the phone.
And of course now there is Facebook. smile

I haven't met anyone in person from this forum yet.

However I have from other forums..all are female regular cyclists so far. Interestingly I've met 3 different women (out of 10) via an international forum....and later, found that each woman lived within 10 kms. radius from us. Each woman didn't know one another before at all!

Other women I've met, I have met each person, in home city or in their home city: Alberqueque, (New Mexico), Maui (Hawaii), Seattle, Atlanta (Georgia) .and a cyclist from the Netherlands visited us. The majority of these women were over mid-30's to late '50's.
