SMILE

Smile your way through your troubles,
Smile your way through your sorrows,
Smile your way through the bad times,
Smile your way through your tomorrows.

Just keep smilin'; it doesn't cost a thing,
And folks' 'll wonder what you're up to!

P.S. These last 2 lines I read or heard somewhere over the
years. But I can't recall where or when! LOL...

I PARTIED WITH SANTA!!!

Fell asleep Christmas Eve as I read by the fire,
funny how a book can make one tire...

Woke up early a.m. to the sound of a bump,
Suddenly 'he' emerged from the fireplace with a thump...

What a funny fellow he was, all red, white and fat,
The only part of him not sooty and dirty was his hat...

As I sat still in the dark, and watched his fast moving,
Santa put on some music, then the old man was grooving...

I jumped from my seat up onto my feet and said, let's dance,
He faced me and giggled then his large butt he wiggled...

We danced all around the room in glee,
Santa was dancing the boo-ga-loo with me...

I woke up the next morning, was it real or did I dream it?
There must be a sign, had a few beers but was not lit!!!

The presents were under the tree all aglow,
When I looked out of doors there were ski and hoof marks in the snow...

Oh my God I saw Santa for the first time in my 44 years,
A jolly old man who likes to dance and knock back a few beers...

HO, HO, HO, MERRY CHRISTMAS

Candy Cane

Long ago, a candy maker wanted to make a piece of candy that would remind his customers to celebrate Jesus at Christmas.

The candy maker began with white candy that stood for the purity of the Lord. He shaped it like a "J" for Jesus. When he turned it upside down, he saw it became the staff of his Good Shepherd.

The red stripes would remind everyone of the cost of their salvation that came through Jesus' blood. He added peppermint flavor to symbolize the spices that were gifts from the Wise Men.

Today this simple candy cane still reminds us to celebrate the sweetest gift of Christmas - Jesus.

THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE! Romans 6:23

Candy Cane Is Symbolizing: The Sweetest Gift

White for purity of God's only Son;
Red for the blood our salvation won;
Striped for the pain borne on Calvary;
He did it all for you and for me;
Shaped like the staff of our Shepherd who came;
JESUS...is His Holy Name!

I liked your poem too! And Chatty, I always enjoy your blog. Just checked it out. I would like to become a friend on it, but it won't allow friends from overseas...but still, I'm following you. :-)

Jabber, that was interesitng about the candy cane...although the symbolic blood stripes is a little creepy...but hey, that's me.

Thanks Edelweiss, what a bummer my blog not allowing you to follow it. That stinks! Thanks for reading it anyway, I wonder sometimes if anyone does or it's a waste of time. Now I know it's NOT!!!

Edelweiss,
Red can't symbolized a whole lot of stuff.

Chatty,
I think your blog is cool! I like it very much!

Yes, Edelweiss, and that's why barber poles are red and white, too!

Isn't there a movie called Sweeney Todd or something like that? He is a murdering barber and commits crimes right in his barber chair.
