"A Firefighters Prayer"

When I am called to duty, God,
Wherever flames may rage,
Give me strength to save some life,
Whatever be its age.

Help me to embrace a child
before it is too late,
And save an older person from
the horror of that fate.

Enable me to be altert,
and hear the weakest shout,
and quickly and efficiently,
to put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor
and protect his property.

This poem is in honor of the BWS member named "Groovy";
who successfully completed all the rigors required to
be installed as a member of our community Fire Company!
I know she worked hard to succeed at this accomplishment.
And I'm proud of her!

PS, I didn't not write this poem, it was on the front of
the 2010 Installation Dinner program!

I'm glad you feel as I do! I'm blown away by those who lose sleep to get up in the middle of the night and risk life'n limb for another in need. That is astounding to me. I'm so in awe of that depth of compassion.

What an accomplishment! I could never do it. It takes a special caliber of person, whether it be man or woman.

Yup, it's always good to be reminded of not taking anything for granted!

The world is covered under a white blanket of snow.
It all looks the same, wherever we go.
Even down south, where that should never happen,
Got those southerners singing and their feet a tappin’,
To a slow snow waltz and some groovy snow blues,
Pack away those sandals and git out the fur lined shoes.

But before we know it, we will all look at the sun and shout
Man we could use some snow today, it’s just too damn hot!

FANTASTIC POEM and so true!!!

I peeked outside today and what did I see,
absolutely nothing peeking back at me...

My car and front yard were not there, as well as my grass or my bushes,
just my neighbors shoveling snow that was so deep, it came up past their tushes.

What has happened down South, how on earth can this be?
I stand on my tiptoes, but it's white as far as my eyes can see.

Now where did I put that shovel, need some wax to make the snow slide off free.
Need my boots, earmuffs, and mittens. Door won't open!! I can't get out, help, someone save me.

The weather man says this is a "freak" snow storm, it won't happen any more.
Say has anyone seen stupid Al Gore, him and his Global Warming!!! What a BORE!

Great poems ladies. Chats, you're right. I couldn't do what
Groovy has done. God bless those folks' who volunteer to get
up in the middle of night and go help their communities.

My granddaughter is in S.C. and she loves the snow. Personally,
I'm sick of seeing snowflakes; but that's just me, I suppose.
Someone asked where in S.C. my family is; they're near
Charleston. The 2 oldest gals are attending Trident.

We got plenty of snow last night and are getting more today.

Shovelin' snow, shovelin' snow,
Can't wait to get in the RV and go.

Weather forecasts say Florida's do,
Ought to be gettin' warm weather,
Like they're known for, too,
With hot breezes and water so blue,
Sure pleases the soul, through and through!

Disney's innovativeness blows me away,
All that creativeness, 'tis pure genius, I say.
