Ladies, I have an interview Thursday morning for a receptionist/admin position. Please pray that it goes well and if it is a good fit that it will lead to full-time and long relationship with that firm.

Thank you

I did not get the job. I've just had it. I see no reason to be on this planet. If it weren't for my pets, I'd not be alive now.

I'm sorry you didn't get the job, Mustang. Keep courage - there is something out there waiting for you. Keep trying.

Do not give up Mustang. I've applied to alot of places, have been interviewed by a number of employers... I've been looking for 18 months.

Meanwhile blogging away, cycling. I had to somehow remain fresh, healthy, active, trying new stuff and being productive during unemployment ...and this becomes more important (to me) as one gets older, when one meets prospective employers.

Job offer is coming to me within next few days ..job will be located in a different province. This is how difficult it can be if one wants a reasonable job. I was flown out for an interview recently..after preliminary phone interview.

But will have present place where I am now, to return, if things should drastically change unexpectedly.

I know i have not discussed much to BWS forums, here because my work search was complicated due to several factors. I've had some strange interviews and other times, where I suspect some employers thought my experience was too advanced or because I've had management jobs that put me in a different ballpark for lower level jobs when they assessed me.

It is competitive....at least to me it is.

Mustang don't give up but ask yourself your degree of mobility. I realize you have your horses, etc.

Mustang, Hate to resort to platitudes, but it is true that it is always darkest before the dawn...

Orchid and Yonuh are right, keep courage, there is something out there that will be perfect for you. And even if you were to have to move, perhaps the horses and other pets can go with you.

My SIL has been looking for a job for about 18 months now. He was a sports editor at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and my daughter tells me he is starting to look at restaurant jobs. Which would be a total waste of his talent...

I am praying for you, just as I am praying for my SIL, Orchid and anyone else hunting for work.

Mustang, you just have to take one day at a time and you'll get through this. I've been going through a hell not of my own making for the last 6 months, but I just keep going forward one step at a time. That's all anyone can do. Sometimes we have to give; sometimes we have to take. But the minute we lose sight of where we are going, we are truly lost. Just hang in there, Mustang. I know that what you are looking for is right around the corner. And you don't want to give up when one more day or one more step could make all the difference in the world and bring you what you need.

Thanks to all you gals for your guidance, wisdom and support. It really is tough.

Orchid, if my home would sell i'd be more willing to relocate. But, I do understand. I hope your new job offer will be fulfilling.

Anne, thank you for the prayers and I hope your SIL finds a job that's intrinsic to himself. I wonder if he could be a free lance writer? I'm certain he's considered that option.

I've thought of find a night job stocking and then perhaps a pet sitting business? It would be a bit rough. Maybe I'll get off my duff and the pet sitting while I still have unemployment. I'll need to check into insurance and bonding. People seem to prefer pet sitters with such and maybe joining a pet sitting organization.

Maybe I don't belong in the corporate world. But I do need some type of job with some benefits and ability to prove eligibility for loans as necessary in the future.

I'll do my research which will keep my mind busy.

Speaking of unemployment, yesterday I visited United Way and another charity, but don't qualify for much and they are low on funds. It was rather embarrassing. I also visited the unemployment office and am rather disgusted b/c they were of little help, nothing I could not have found out on line.

One of the employment counselors suggested that I become bonded to find employment. The Federal Bonding Program is for hard to place or at risk job applicant/seeker like ex-offenders, fraudulent or dishonest acts, recovering substance abusers, welfare recipients and those with poor credit, etc. I'm none of those. She said a few other things that I found rather inappropriate. This is the 2nd time I've felt reverse discrimination at the employment office.

She also delivered some bad news. That being that after November no more unemployment benefits will be extended. I'm not eligible until late Jan or early Feb 2011 to file an extension for benefits. Now I know I won't be able to receive those benefits and must make more effort to find work. Gosh, I've even thought of working at Merry Maids (if they'll have me) and do the pet sitting morning and evening and weekends. Just another idea.

Although unemployment in my state is Federally funded, the November 2010 state elections will determine any extensions in 2011. According to my state's unemployment office "the recession is over" -- and yet we have 11% unemployment.

Geesh. Politicians and numbers are just a bunch of cow hocky!
