GRATEFUL
While walking the dogs in the park today,
I got to thinking 'bout how I ought to pray.
I'm seeing trees, tall and full and wide,
And luscious green grass'n a blue, blue sky.
I'm thinking of this land and the peacefulness that surrounds,
No bullets flying or bombs exploding on the ground.
Lord what should I be thanking you for first,
The fact I can walk or that I have no thrist?
Bless those 'round the world hurting through'n through,
I appreciate my blessings, I really, really do.
But here's what I'm praying to truly ask you for,
Heal hurting citizens and soldiers fighting wars!

I so appreciate your comments! At times I think my poems are too simple, for I know there are much better poets than I. But there are days I can't help but write poetry. I find it such release, they come bursting out of my soul. It's always nice to know you've diverted another person's troubles, if even briefly. Prayers and blessings...

Here's a tribute to brave women and men,
Sacrificing their all, for America to defend!
Remembering the soldiers' gone on before,
And those currently fighting those doggone wars!
Every day they go marching, through our hearts'n minds,
For we're unable to express gratitude of this kind.
The conscientious, the patriotic, these are the sort,
Leaving their homeland from numerous ports!
Sidestepping bombs, facing enemy lines,
Keeping their countrymen from treatment unkind!
And herein stated, I doth contend,
To the sensitive'n caring, Memorial Day never ends!

Write a poem with lyrical sounds,
That'll drive away whatever blues are around.
Write a poem with bounce'n delight,
A fancy rhyme, uplifting the downtrodden plight.
Write a poem of beautiful scenes,
A poesy little verse with spectacular extremes.
Write a poem to soothe thy aching heart,
For some souls find healing in poetic art.
Was hoping to stir up some new creations here. What happened to my poem-writing peers?

Gaining years of wisdom makes 'em ever so neat.
BWS is a fun website to join,
Jokes'n debating both sides of the coin.
From time-to-time some disagree, it's true,
Still all conclude sun is yellow, sky is blue.
So this is a tribute to boomer females,
More enthusiastic than puppies waggin' their tails!

DADDY, FATHER
A dad with good judgment, and common sense, to boot,
Is more valuable than gold and all the world's loot.
A man full of kindness and truth for his guide,
Gifts a sense of belonging, growing deep roots inside.
Teaching younglin's to love everything that's good,
Influences kids to grow up and do what they should.
His life is serving others', lightening everyone's load,
Then, there goes daddy, flyin' to God's eternal home.
As much as caged animals, love being free,
I'll forever love the daddy, Father God gave to me!!!
