Here's a link to a teleseminar on this topic. It's an oldie from "Girlfriend, We Gotta Talk," and features as the expert, Dr. Jan Yager, author of When Friendship Hurts: How to Deal with Friends Who Betray, Abandon, or Wound You.

In it she shares how to detect and cope with friendships that are harmful; how to identify potentially negative friendship; and tips on how try and save a friendship.

Though I haven't listened to the call yet, I trust that there's value in it. Recording: What to do when friendships hurt.

Thanks for the great link. I also found a recent article about "Toxic Friends." The stat is very interesting as it involves both men and women saying 8 out of 10 people have a toxic friend that they fear of letting go. The article goes in depth of the kind of people to be cognoscente of and ways to approach them if you need to address the issue. I wish I had this resource when I was going through this with my friend that I drifted a part with. Although I think the outcome would remain the same, I would have at the very least, approached it differently.

If you want to take a look here you go: MSNBC.com: Toxic Friends, 8 in 10 people endure poisonous pals
