Okay gals, what are your plans for ringing in the New Year?
I hope everybody here has great visions for grand successes
in the upcoming months. I keep praying God will help me fulfill whatever His destiny may be and/or the purpose for my being. I like to think I've survived this long for a reason.
What say you???? sleep whistle wink

My partner and I don't usually go out New Year's Eve. It has become a struggle just to stay up until midnight so we often don't bother. We go to bed around 9; or if we're feeling really adventuresome, we stay up till 10!!

I thought WB & I were the only people in the world who went to
bed at 9 P.M.; am so glad to learn other people out there do the same. We have NOT gone out partying on New Year's Eve in a long, long time. There are too many crazy, sober drivers on the road, to say nothing of the drunken ones.

We're usually up at 5-5:30 every day and I have to get my 8 hours sleep every night or I get cranky. When we do go out to a show and are up late, it takes us a week to recuperate. I remember when I was younger, working the 3-11 shift at the hospital, going out to party after work, coming home at 6 or 7 in the morning, grabbing an hour or two of sleep, then going out shopping until it was time to go to work. Ah, the good ole days!!

It has varied each year, depending on where we are. There have been some years where we were vacationing in a mountain resort area and snowshoeing. So time at a restaurant.

In both Vancouver & Toronto we hve sampled their New Year's Eve city celebration at least once.

But most of all, for years we are home, we have a lovely homemade meal with wine and spend time together. I don't have a tv right now...so gotta to think about this...

Good question, and I love all the answers!

At the moment, Steve and I have no plans, other than to stay home and relax. I generally buy a few extra special food items, and we make ourselves a bit of a buffet out of them. So far I think we have a partial box of Nancy's (brand) mini quiches in the freezer, so they will be on the menu. Maybe I'll buy some shrimp, too.

We're only just returned from our Christmas visit to Wisconsin, and my Dad sent some leftover ham with us. So - as much as I am not a fan of ham - Steve likes it. So I'll probably try to incorporate it into one of the dishes I serve.

We usually play games and listen to music, and tune in the TV in time to watch the ball drop at Times Square. Nothing too exciting for us! Sometimes we have friends over, sometimes we just keep to ourselves. So far no one is invited, but that could change.

Like many of you, getting our sleep has become most important. But we will likely stay up to see the New Year in on Central Time -- we'll just sleep in a bit the next morning.

Las Vegas is the destination for hundred of thousands of people on New Years Eve, where the town puts on a dazzling display of fireworks which is televised. All the hotel rooms are booked solid and the streets are closed to the strip where all these paople gather. It is a madhouse!!! I watch the fireworks from my front porch usually. I wouldn't be up on that strio for anything out in the cold weather. We have snacks and watch TV until the fireworks begin.

Chatty,
I'll bet New Year's Eve in Las Vegas is tons of fun. Madhouse, yes! But a blast none the less.

I'm sure it IS a blast. I just heard that the Las Vegas New Year's Eve party is the largest in the country. New York City comes in second, and apparently there's a big party in The Big Easy, as well as a huge event in Canada at Niagara Falls!
