White Christmas, Coventry Carol and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
Sorry, I just couldn't name one. When I hear White Christmas played by the Boston Pops under Arthur Feidler's conduction it brings tears to my eyes.
I guess I'm thinking about when I was a child and family was all around.

I have a CD I love, it's a Christmas cd by BeBe and CeCe Winans. They are a brother/sister and sing mostly Christian R&B/gospel music. BeBe is the brother and his voice is silky smooth. Now I just need to find it!

My favorite of all time is Silent Night. Last week, we went to Branson and saw Andy Williams' Christmas show. It was wonderful. Just as it does every Christmas, when we joined him in singing Silent Night, my heart overflowed.
Last night we joined friends at a concert by the number one Christian singer in the U.S. I was looking forward to it and to Silent Night. She did a lot of new Christian songs in the 'new Christian music' style (maybe some of you know what I mean). I kept thinking if I could just endure all that cacophony, she would eventually get to the 'real' Christmas music and I would fall in love with Silent Night all over again. At last she said she would sing the carols and she asked the audience to sing along with her. She sang Joy to the World, but no one else sang. We couldn't. The writer of Joy to the World must have been crying in his grave. She destroyed it. She has great voice and a tremendous range, but she was so intent upon showing it off that she destroyed a wonderful Christmas song.
Walking to the car, we all agreed that we were grateful she didn't get a chance at Silent Night.
Sorry, I needed to vent. It broke my heart to see someone with such a great voice destroy beautiful songs.
Our own church choir is wonderful this year though. smile [ December 02, 2005, 11:45 AM: Message edited by: smilinize ]

I guess I still prefer the old Christmas songs as they were originally sung. I cringe at some of the new stuff by younger singers who, in my own opinion destroy it.

I have the sound track from Home Alone. I love the song Candles in the Window. It too makes me cry. I think of that part of the movie where the old man is reunited with his son and they are outside hugging each other with the snow falling around them. A wonderful Christmas movie, guess it belongs in the movie forum though.

Not .. 'It'll be a Blue Christmas Without You ' i dont like it , because it always makes me sad, just thinking about it makes me want to cry....why did they ever write that song?? It should be banned... makes me feel just terrible. My favorite one is 'i want a hippopotmus for christmas'. Oh, the question was your favorite Christmas Carol.... then that is 'Angels we have heard on high'. [ December 03, 2005, 02:05 AM: Message edited by: norma ]

My uncle was the clown of the family and the youngest child of 7. My grandmother had some church ladies over for coffee and pastries and decided it was the perfect time to get little Keith to sing I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas for the ladies. (Can't you just picture them, the ladies with their hats, gloves and clunky shoes, sitting in the parlor?) So Keith stood up and began singing, "I'm dreaming of a white sh-t pot......." As you can imagine, my grandmother was mortified, but it has been a classic family story ever since.

Oh my God Daisygirl, why did he sing those words instead of the right lyrics?
I use to take a friend's daughter home from grade school with my two children.
One December while riding home in the car she started singing Winter Wonderland. When she got to the part about where you sing, later on we'll conspire as we sit by the fire, she instead sang "later on, we'll expire, as we sit by the fire."
This girl was in eigth grade at the time. My two were in first and fourth grades. I looked in the rear view mirror with a smile as I saw my two kids laughing. The girl never laughed or corrected her use of the word expire so we knew she was honestly ignorant about it. We sing it her way now.

I've always thought "Silent Night" was by far the loveliest of the Christmas Carols. The chaplin at the hospital where I just started volunteering has invited me to join a group that will sing Christmas songs for the hospital patients right before the holidays. I will porbably take her up on that offer.

I wish I had our old Chipmunk album with the Christmas song on it!! It's probably worth some money on ebay!!
Ladybug, I love that part of Home Alone, too. I cry every single time I see that.

We also have a station that plays Christmas music for 24 nours starting on Christmas Eve.
I've got a couple Chipmunk cassettes of their Christmas music. They were so cute. You can't help but sing along.
Silent Night is my husband's favorite. I also love some of the really old hymns sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. They make me cry too.

Does anyone remember the snoopy christmas album?
I remember as a young girl playing it over and over again.
I've looked for it but have never been able to find it.
(can't even think of a title of one of the songs right now -- my mind is drawing a blank)lol.
I THINk the chipmunks sang a song on it, and I think there was a song about the "red barron" on it also.

I'm suddenly remembering my daughter dancing ro "Jingle Bell Rock" at a nursing home at Christmas. They also did part of The Nurcracker, which has always been eynonymous with this season for me. We were always so proud of our kids for taking time from their own busy lives to bring joy to the residents, some of whom had little enough joy in their lives.

My good friend use to take her two children to a nursing home to play Christmas carols on their musical instruments. I'm sure the residents loved it.

I know the residents loved it when the girls came to dance for them every year. Laura still fondly remembers one sweet little lady saying to her friend, "Those girls don't just dance like that. They all have training."
That was about 15 years ago, and she still treasures the memory. So do I. It's wonderful when kids take the time to do things like that for people who don't have a lot of joy in their lives.

Last night Clayton and I were on our way back from the Newport, KY aquarium and I was singing Christmas carols I thought he would like, like Rudolf, Jingle Bells, etc. He was singing them, but the lyrics were more like a story with many more words than in the song - he cracks me up!
I have a new favorite - anything my 3 yr. old grandson sings.
