Dianne, I don't know if he was born with that little ear lopsided or injured during his time as a stray.

He is just as laid back and huggable as the picture suggests, at least it does to me.

Adorable pets all. Munchie, Farmer and Jack are cool looking dogs.
If you look REALLY CLOSE, Benny looks like he's hiding a white mouse close to that floppy ear.

okay, I think I have it figured out now. Here's a picture of my parrot, Bailey.

He flew into our backyard one day and decided to adopt us. He's been with us about 7 months now.

He's a Sun Conure.

Chickadee, Benny is deathly afraid of birds and mice but he use to chase chipmunks and squirrels before he became an indoor cat.

A cat afraid of mice...I never heard of one til now. But do you see what I mean. Those little black spots and the tufted fur makes it look like a mouse hiding there.
Bailey is just beautiful. I love Jacks tail. It looks like a fountain.

Bailey doesn't talk, as far as we know. He mutters and chatters to himself.. and will "bark" when Jack barks. He also screeches. Sun Conures are known for their loud calls. If I leave the room or go out of Bailey's sight, he calls out with very LOUD screeches, until I talk to him or come back so he can see me. He made us part of his flock.

When my brother Joe lived in Hawaii in the 70's he had a pet Myna bird.

That bird would imitate his sneezes and would great him with, "Joe you son of a -----!"

Wonder who taught him that!?

Myna's are great birds and so funny. I'm trying to figure out Benny's fur. His hair looks short around his legs and paws but fluffy around his face. Is that right?

I was hoping Vicki would post a pic of Bailey. And Chick...Bunny?

I would post pics of my pets but I don't know how to do it. Help!

My God I am in heaven, all these much loved beautiful babies. It makes my heart so full to see them all so happy and their parents (all of you)so proud. Ladybug, Benny's ear looks like a birth defect but only serves to make him even more unique and appealing. Bailey can come to my house anytime. Between him and sammie I am getting closer and closer to getting a bird.

Chickadee, I'm still trying to figure out where you visualize that mouse. Okay, I see it now.

Dianne, Benny's leg fur is shorter. His tail is very bushy and all black except for a white bullseye at the tip. He's also got a big black belly spot. The front leg fur is short and the back legs have long fur. Also one side of the buttock is black fur.

Chatty, do you think he was born with that floppy ear?

Dianne, add the picture as a link to your post, then put at the end of your link. Your picture has to be on the internet so that you can post a link. That's the hard part. You can see an example, by going to my post with the picture of Bailey. Click on the "" button to quote it and you'll see how I entered the information to make the image. I learned all this from Di, she taught me.

Ladybug looks like he was either born with it or it was damaged soon after birth, cartilidge not being allowed to strenghten somehow but thats no big deal. He probably hears just fine and is a doll baby just the way he is.

Congrats Speakermon, there are two of those little doxies in our shelter right now, their master passed away almost two months after he got them. They will be adopted quickly because they are less that 6 months old and soooo cute. I dare not bring them home, or here they would stay....I love doxies. You'll have to add Andy to your signature now too.

Speakermom,

I used to have a cocker spaniel officially named Bernard T Fife, but we called him Barney. He was the best dog and he was in our family until we had to put him down due to cancer.

Since my husband is Jewish and they name their children after deceased relatives, I named my Italian Greyhound, Gladys, after my husband's mother. That got shortened to Dys, which was changed to Diz. My bird calls her Dizzy Lou for some reason.

My son and I got our boxers at the same time (they're sisters) and so Dixie and Trixie just seem to fit. Then my son bought another registered male boxer and named him Duke. Of course these three dogs are the same ones who ate my son's bedroom door and destroyed the rest of my house in 10 minutes flat while I ran to the corner market one weekend. I was babysitting them. Since that time I have called them Kujo, Lucifer, and Rosmary's baby.

Chatty, the black one is a Miniature Pincher.
Loves sitting under the couch where the heat vent blows.
Let someone knock on the door, she turns into the snarling guard dog, who thinks she's a regular size Pincher.

Bridgett is more laid back...she's more into giving kisses, relaxing and waiting for dinner.

Beautiful parrot and shame on you Dianne for tempting her with a, a parrakeet, of all things!

Every summer here it amazes me how many parrots, especially African Greys go missing. The newspaper has a special area to post missing pets.

Is your parrot's wings clipped? We've got a huge sulphur crested cockatoo at our PetsMart for sale. Everytime I go in there I have to stop by and see him. He's a beauty too and seems very sweet.

Yes, Ms. Sammie's wings are clipped. I always lock up my house to prevent her theft. They are expensive and valuable and it would break my heart if I lost her...break her heart too.

I hate to see Parrots for sale at PetsMart because they charge so much and the birds end up sitting there for what seems like forever. They need good homes where they can bond.

Very sweet birds. A person could buy one from a breeder at much less. I hate the mark up on these birds because it lessens their chances of being bought.

Well, yeah. Who can afford it? The birds get attached to the staff at the store and when someone finally buys them, they have to adjust again. But, African Greys have more trouble with that than other parrots. I'm just glad I found Sammie when I did.

Dianne did you ever see the PBS special about parrots? One of the featured birds was an African Grey that could talk and said some pretty unbelievable things. It was especially sweet because the owner was British and the bird sounded British too! It would say, "cup of tea" in a perfect British accent. My daughter and I looked at each other and burst out laughing!

Every now and again PBS shows this particular segment.

Was this the one where they thought the parrot might be reading the owners mind? If so, yes, I saw it and it was amazing.

I saw some baby greys in France at a bird show and thought how they would someday speak French. Sammie speaks a little French...very little.

I wanted to share some pictures of my fur babies. Alex is the only one I actually brought home with me from the humane shelter. The other 4 found us! I swear there is a sign in my yard that only stray cats can see. It must say something like: home for the strays or if you found this house, you are home!

Thanks Chatty. I have that picture enlarged and framed, hanging on my wall. Elsie is a special kitty to me. She was 100% faro...mean as a snake when we meant! It is a long story how we have become friends and I won't bore everyone of that process with every detail.....well, maybe a few details...this is the pet section! I did manage to get her to the vet to be spaded, which I think I need a stiff drink after that ordeal! She tore the wall paper on the wall at the Vet's office by trying to climb it, knocked all the pictures off his wall, knocked stuff off the counters before he was able to get ahold of her. I brought her back home. After about 6 months, I was able to pet her.....just once and quicky before she took a swing at me! Why did I take an interest in that ole mean cat?! Don't know. There was just something about her, and I just love animals.

She was a kitten when she came to us and is about 12 years old now and has arthritis and can't climb a tree anynore. She lives in my garage and has a nice heated cat bed to lay on and just about anything else she wants. Now, she is only about 50% faro....and is still mean! But I do love that old wild cat! Don't tell the others....they think they are all #1 too!
