I am a fan of the game of football, and yes, I'd watch the Super Bowl, whether my hubby did or not. We thoroughly enjoyed the Playoffs this year, and I was glad to see both my Bowl picks made it. Sunday I was cheering for the Steelers, in good part out of long held esteem for the days of the Awesome Steel Curtain.

My hubby yet recalls that early in the 1972 football season, I picked the Dolphins to go undefeated, and to win Super Bowl VII. Now you ladies can imagine what a feather in my cap, that little feat turned out to be. [Smile]

I'm also a fan of the game of basketball, and am looking forward to the NBA playoffs. I'm a Detroit Pistons fan, the organization that re-introduced the importance of the concept of 'team' back into a sport too much in love with the individual super-star.

Well ladies, the Seahawks didn't win.......but maybe next year.
I'm really disppointed in the fans saying the officials did a bad job.
After coaching fastpitch for 17 years, I always told my girls that it's not the officials who will lose the game for you, it's how you play the game.
The Seahawks played a bad game. That's all.
At least we are seeing sun for the first time in many days!!!!

The fans are disappointed and are looking for someone to blame besides the team. I won't get into a discussion out whether some bad calls were made. That's a matter of opinion.

The sad fact is, there is somtimes terrible offciating or judging at all levels of organized sports in this country. We saw it time and again when my husband was a recreational youth soccer coach. We always told the kids that the officials can't lose the game for you, but that was not always the case. Officials, like the rest of us, are human and can make mistakes.

Well maybe if it were for one call they could but a touchdown is a touchdown and the Steelers just played better football any way you look at it. Its only a game. I congratulate all the players on both teams for an excellent effort.

Remember when sports was fun and watching it was for entertainment? People get so fanatical about it now. It always cracks me up when they show a bunch of fans, drunk at a bar, on tv yelling "we won!!!"...We??? Did they play?

Chuck and I were commenting during the Super Bowl that TV sports are all about entertainment and business. And that has taken a lot of the fun out of watching any of it.

The sad thing is that this "it only matters if you win" attitude has filtered down to kid sports and other activities. I've known many parents who went out of their way to be sure their kid got on the team they thought would win. Then, of course, if the team didn't win, even though they did the best they could, the parents blame the coach. No wonder so many kids are growing up confused these days.
